A pathway to higher education
We believe that providing accessible, relevant and quality higher education is the pathway to finding work that is meaningful and rewarding. At Pearson Institute of Higher Education, we give you the opportunity to prepare for a successful degree programme through our Pre-degree Foundation Programme or the English Language Foundation Programme.
Pearson Institute of Higher Education has been a pioneer in higher education for over 25 years and it is against this backdrop that we identified a need in the market for Foundation Programmes. If you are a student with potential, determination and drive but you do not meet our degree programme entry requirements, you now have an alternative access route to our range of career-focused higher education programmes.
The Foundation and Academic Support Unit is a progressive and supportive unit that offers two programmes, the Pre-degree Foundation Programme and the English Language Foundation Programme. The Pre-degree Foundation Programme bridges the gap between school and post-school education by developing your academic skills, knowledge and behaviours, all essential to higher education success.
If you did not complete your secondary schooling in English or if English is not your home language then the English Language Foundation Programme is for you. It develops your English language skills and knowledge so that you are well prepared for our higher education programmes that are conducted in English.
What makes our foundation programmes so exceptional is the personal, interactive and encouraging teaching and learning approach we use. This involves a blend of lecture-led learning with smaller classes, individual tutoring, Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) and assessment-preparation based on class activities and practical and relevant exercises. We ensure that you are ready to navigate your future studies better prepared academically and with much more confidence. We also help you develop essential interpersonal and life skills such as critical thinking, self-management, analysis of practical problems, use of technology and communication.
