Before applying, you need to find out if you have the right admission requirements for the qualification you’ve chosen. Our campus team is equipped to provide advice and guidance through the process, which can be quite daunting.
Standard entry requirements
A South African National Senior Certificate (NSC) or an endorsed equivalent. This endorsement is done through Universities South Africa www.universititessa.ac.za.
Entry requirements for South African National Senior Certificates achieved prior to 2008
If you completed Grade 12 prior to 2008, please contact a Pearson Institute Higher Education Consultant for further information.
Minimum entry requirements for undergraduate degrees
You must have a minimum level four in four subjects from the designated list.]
Once this minimum is met, points will be allocated for non-designated subjects.
If you passed Life Orientation, you will be allocated three points regardless of the pass percentage achieved.

National Senior Certificate Vocational (V) entry requirements
You must have a minimum of 50% in English, Life Orientation and Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy.
You must have a minimum of 70% in four vocational subjects chosen from the NSC (V) level four subjects.
The NSC (V) subjects must relate to the degree for which you intend enrolling.
Designated list of subjects for undergraduate degrees
The following NSC or international school-leaving certificate equivalent subjects are recognized in the Pearson Institute points calculation:
Engineering Graphics Design
Languages (one language at a higher education institution and two other recognised languages)
Qualification-specific entry requirements
Some qualifications have specific matric subject and result requirements to make up a minimum number of entrance points.
For some qualifications, you will need to undergo a selection interview.
If you did not complete your secondary schooling in English or if you are uncertain about your English language skills, we advise you to complete an internationally accepted English language proficiency test. Should you not pass this assessment, we suggest you complete our one-year English Language Foundation Programme, which prepares you for degree studies.

To apply you need to submit the following information to a Higher Education Consultant:
A completed application form
A copy of your results for the latest school year
A copy of your ID
A copy of your sponsor’s ID
If you have attended another higher education institution, we need a copy of your academic transcript
If you are an international student, we need proof of medical aid, a study permit and an equivalent matric certificate
Your completed application form must be accompanied by proof of payment of the application fee.
